My comment to the EPA on Greenhouse Gas
There is no dispute about Greenhouse Gases, the only reason there is debate is because big $ corporations have their hands in the pockets of politicians, including it seems even Obama. If he thinks Coal can ever be 'clean'....the number one way to mine coal currently is Mountain top removal, which leaves the land looking like a moonscape. But its ok cuz not that many people live in these Rural states right?....well l live in one of those states, l dont like seeing simulations of the moon popped up out of the forest and those are only the ones we can see. Plus the initial bulldozing of the land to form an unstable dam to retain the slurry of poisionous water after the coal is washed.....Water, our most precious resource, used to 'wash' coal. And what happens when that unstable dam ruptures, and floods the local community?....Ask Kington Tn. but dont ask the TVA, they claim the water is still safe and no permanent harm was done.....hmmm yea right!! Then you finally get to the part where coal is burned, first on trains to truck it to various facilities, then burned for our power, 50% of our US power. Then you get Greenhouse Gas, which is not only changing the way Earth retains heat but also contains harmful heavy metals and particulate matter. We knew all this 30 years ago when l was a kid watching the news that Carter had solar panels installed on the White House.....but His Revered Sir Reagan had them removed as ineffectual.....So please show us how the Obama administration is bringing the 'change' that was advertised.

Dear Bill: Thanks for including the Chicago Sun-Times on your exclusive list of newspapers on your "Hall of Shame." To be in an O'Reilly Hall of Fame would be a cruel blow to any newspaper. It would place us in the favor of a man who turns red and starts screaming when anyone disagrees with him. My grade-school teacher, wise Sister Nathan, would have called in your parents and recommended counseling with Father Hogben.
Yes, the Sun-Times is liberal, having recently endorsed our first Democrat for President since LBJ. We were founded by Marshall Field one week before Pearl Harbor to provide a liberal voice in Chicago to counter the Tribune, which opposed an American war against Hitler. I'm sure you would have sided with the Trib at the time.
I understand you believe one of the Sun-Times misdemeanors was dropping your syndicated column. My editor informs me that "very few" readers complained about the disappearance of your column, adding, "many more complained about Nancy." I know I did. That was the famous Ernie Bushmiller comic strip in which Sluggo explained that "wow" was "mom" spelled upside-down.
Your column ran in our paper while it was owned by the right-wing polemicists Conrad Black (Baron Black of Coldharbour) and David Radler. We dropped it to save a little money after they looted the paper of millions. Now you call for an advertising boycott. It is unusual to observe a journalist cheering for a newspaper to fail. At present the Sun-Times has no bank debt, but labors under the weight of millions of dollars in tax penalties incurred by Lord Black, who is serving an eight-year stretch for mail fraud and obstruction of justice. We also had to pay for his legal expenses.
There is a major difference between Conrad Black and you: Lord Black is a much better writer and thinker, and authored a respected biography about Roosevelt, who we were founded to defend. That newspapers continue to run your column is a mystery to me, since it is composed of knee-jerk frothings and ravings. If I were an editor searching for a conservative, I wouldn't choose a mad dog. My recommendation: The admirable Charles Krauthammer.
Bill, I am concerned that you have been losing touch with reality recently. Did you really say you are more powerful than any politician?
That reminds me of the famous story about Squeaky the Chicago Mouse. It seems that Squeaky was floating on his back along the Chicago River one day. Approaching the Michigan Avenue lift bridge, he called out: Raise the bridge! I have an erection!

Same as last year, we once again access ourselves. A veiled attempt to discern personal ideals, and just like last year’s assessment day also featured ideological questions masked as reading comprehension. The readings were about anti-abortion sentiments, which had the effect of broadcasting a particular side of the story while also garnering opinion on the subject. This was achieved by asking questions designed to ‘test’ an individual’s understanding of reading material.
And now I am asked to describe my feelings about the creation of a Gay and Lesbian Forum? It seems to me this activity is not designed to test my various skills. This activity seems to want my opinion on whether we should have such a forum. I don’t understand why such discussion is needed. If people want to gather in a group and about a mutual connection, the college should support it. We have groups for people in sports religion, and a variety of academic disciplines. We have non-curriculum groups such as the Black Student Alliance. If people, including staff and faculty desire to group together as a Gay and Lesbian Forum, Great, have fun.
Will I sign such a petition? Probably not, but I would explain that I don’t think permission should be required. Do we not have the freedom to gather freely and exercise our right to speech and assembly, Right?
College is about education, right? So if a student has queries about things, especially when such things can have huge effects in our life; shouldn’t free and open discussion help everyone involved? And if such discussion bothers or offends any particular individual, let that person exercise the freedom to not participate.
I myself don’t like football, which makes me something of an aberration, so to voice openly my opinion that maybe we spend a disproportional amount of time, and money on football, when compared to academics and even other sports is tantamount to hearsay. But other people have their freedom to enjoy football.
There to think that people would have to petition to form any sort of group seems to contravene the idea of foster the free flow of ideas. And then to think someone might hypothesize such a thing is kind of stupid
